For the freshest, tastiest guacamole you can’t get better than homemade. Featuring lime, fish sauce and chilli for an unbeatable flavour hit, this Spicy Asian Inspired Guacamole Dip is set to spice up your life in the best way possible.

Spicy Asian Inspired Guacamole - This Burmese dish is the CREAMIEST dip you could ask for. A healthy lunchtime treat just waiting to spice up your life.

So over the last few weekends our housemate has taken us down to some nearby fresh produce markets (for you Adelaidians, we’re talking about the Torrens Island Markets. 😉 )

We couldn’t believe the fresh produce available, from farm fresh veggies to free range eggs, organic spices, fresh baked breads and everything in between.

And, best bit, it’s literally a five minute drive from home.

!!!

How in the world did we not realise how good this is? Everything is so much cheaper and fresher than what’s been available in the supermarkets lately.

We were like kids in a candy store going crazy over each stall.

Surely we must have looked a little odd what with our outbursts of ‘oh my god look at the price of that asparagus!’ and ‘check out these brussels sprouts!’

Cos, yep. That’s how we roll.

This is the CREAMIEST lunchtime treat. Where have you been all my life?Click To Tweet

Of course then we found some fresh avocadoes and our day was 100% MADE.

Stacks of veggies tucked under each arm, we brought everything home and jumped straight into the kitchen, whipping up batches of tea, masala chai, and a few frothy coffees for my Wandermum, along with this Spicy Asian-Inspired Guacamole for our friends.

We were inspired to make this brilliant 5 minute recipe after Gabi & Nico posted their own guacamole dip over at their blog The Funnelogy Channel. Reading their stories is like seeing the world through their eyes, and we love following their adventures.

They shared a great tip for removing the avocado stone:

“Using the blade of your knife, strike the avocado stone at its centre (watch your fingers!) so that the blade gets stuck in the stone, then twist about 90 degrees and voilà the stone will come out with your knife.”

Voila! Tried and tested and winning at avocado life in general.

Oooh I should probably mention we’ve added a dash of fish sauce to our recipe. This is optional 100% NOT optional guys! 😛 Not if you want some seriously awesome flavour to your Asian Inspired Guacamole.

Trust us, it is going to be so worth it once it’s sitting there waiting for you to take a bite.

Go on, give it a try, and let us know how you go!

P.S. Do you struggle choosing the perfect avocado?

There’s literally nothing worse than slicing into a gorgeous looking avocado only to find a brown slimy mess inside. Here’s a little tip on how to choose the best avocado next time you’re buying one.

  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1 small tomato diced
  • ½ red chilli deseeded and finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic finely chopped
  • 1 spring onion finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp fish sauce
  • 2 tbsp lime juice

Instructions

  • Slice the avocado in half and remove the seed. Mash the avocado inside skin with a fork (make it as chunky or smooth as you like it). Alternatively, spoon out the inside into a bowl to mash.
  • Add the tomato, chilli, garlic and onion. Drizzle with fish sauce and lime juice. Season with salt and white pepper.
  • Mix until ingredients are evenly combined.
  • Serve immediately with tortilla chips or fresh white bread.

Notes

Tip: If you're looking for a different way to dish up your guacamole why not serve it up inside a fresh cob loaf? Slice off the very top of the loaf, pull out the fluffy centre and fill with guacamole. Tear apart the fluffy bread into small pieces and serve all together for a delicious party dip or snack.

Mmmm! This looks fabulous! I live in McAllen, Texas now (after 22 years in New Mexico). The avocados are ridiculously good and cheap, and I must give this a try… Aren’t farmers markets the best? We just finally got to our local farmers market, and I’m still excited 🙂

Oh wow you’re so lucky! Avocados are usually so expensive here, maybe $3-$4 each at the supermarket ($3 for 5 at the farmers market!). Markets always have such a great atmosphere too, so much amazing food to find and unusual produce you just don’t find at the supermarket. We love heading down on a Sunday morning, such an awesome way to set ourselves up for a fresh and tasty week ahead! 🙂

I love avocado, but now I need it with some fish sauce. It sounds like a great flavor combination.

It’s works really great to add extra depth to the flavour, but definitely doesn’t come off tasting fishy at all. Such a miracle ingredient!
