Peanut Hoisin Sauce for Rice Paper Rolls

We've found the perfect peanut hoisin sauce for rice paper rolls, ready in less than 5 minutes. This dipping sauce is packed with crunchy crushed peanut and a perfect sweet and salty flavour. So grab your cold rolls, summer rolls or homemade rice paper rolls and get dipping.

  • Add the hoisin sauce, peanut butter, sesame oil and garlic into a small saucepan and gently simmer on the stove.
    3 tbsp hoisin sauce, 2 tbsp crunchy peanut butter, 1 tsp sesame oil, 1 clove garlic
  • Stir through water a little bit at a time until the sauce has a glossy look and a smooth, slightly runny texture.

  • Taste test a few times and add more of any ingredient or water until you’re satisfied with the flavour.

Notes

  • If you're allergic to peanuts or completely peanut intolerant, you can substitute with tahini or sunflower seed butter which should give similar results. Alternatively, you could also these other peanut alternatives over at Greatist.
  • Don't have hoisin? Swap for 2tbsp oyster sauce instead. You may also like to add a little bit of honey or sugar and 1 tbsp of peanut butter to balance out the flavour. 
  • Add in some freshly chopped chilli and set all those yummy peanut hoisin sauce flavours on fire!
